Education is the foundation

Education is the foundation for growing and expanding one’s mind and potential. Everyone is capable of greatness but only if they invest in themselves through education will they have the proper tools to excel. Education can lead us to self discovery, better job opportunities, personal growth and betterment of society. Through education minds can be opened, expanded, enriched. I believe it is one of the greatest tools we have at our disposal today.

If we invested half of the time we put into social media and menial tasks into education our world would be a much better place. If in our schools teachers enticed our students with the prospect and adventure of learning our youth would not be in precarious and degrading situations they often find themselves in; subject to gangs squandering away their lives. It can open doors that otherwise would be impossible to get into. A person can possess a home, a car or any amount of material things that money can buy but the only thing in life that no one can ever take away is the education that person receives. It is stored forever in that person enriching them and enabling them to make smarter choices in life than if they lacked the knowledge acquired through education.

I firmly believe the purpose of education is to enrich ourselves. To make us better human beings, better professionals, better parents, better sons and daughters in essence a better us. William Shakespeare said it best “All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts…” The things I am taught today are the things that were learned by others who came before me. We are always interacting with each other and the education we receive we can showcase to others in gestures, deeds, acts, inventions and simply by relating with them. Education to me is a privilege that should not be taken lightly but embraced fully and given freely.
