The Next Four Years by Taylor - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
Walking into high school on the first day is overwhelming to most freshman, including myself. I was one of those small freshman walking in the halls thinking that I was going to be shoved into a locker or get my lunch taken away. The truth is, high school starts off differently than anyone expects. Everyone says that the next four years passes by faster than you can realize. Freshman listen up cause it's true. Yes, the first day can be overwhelming and hectic, but I promise you, it goes by too fast. Throughout the years, the time seems to fly by without warning. Next thing you know, you are sitting in class thinking about how in just a matter of a couple months, you will be graduating and perusing your future plans. The sad thing is, graduating is a bittersweet moment that doesn't hit students until the night of graduating. Crazy huh? Unfortunately, I am one of those seniors that is just waiting for reality to hit me. I understand that my friends will be going in different directions and that my responsibilities are going to increase tremendously. The thing is, it hasn't hit home yet. It will though.
Freshman, take this advice and cherish every moment you can while you still have it. Get involved and make a difference in people's lives. Make your mark in school history. Being involved in activities can help you bond with others and make friendships that make high school "bearable" as some put it. Study hard too because it pays off in the end. Not only can help you pay for your future but it can also get you noticed. Who doesn't like to be congratulated by their achievements? Once again, cherish each and every moment you have whether it be good or bad because high school is too short. Good luck and I hope your next four years were as good as mine.
