The Bible by Suzanne - April 2014 Scholarship Essay

For the past five months, I have been reading the Bible. Currently,I have read from the beginning up to Psalms. One of the many characters that influenced me was Moses. Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land. God trusted his people with Moses. He led them to freedom for 40 years in the desert without food or water. But God supplied them when his people would whine and complain. God showed many miracles in Exodus including the Ten Plagues. This was my favorite story in the Bible so far. It shows leadership and faith in God.

Moses was 80 years old when he led the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses lived in the Pharaohs palace for most of his life but left to escape punishment for killing an Egyptian. On the way to Midian, Moses encounters God in the form of a burning bush on Mount Horeb. During the story Moses with God's power splits the Red Sea so that he and the Israelites could cross. Once they cross, God then let's the sea fall on top of the Egyptians and Pharaoh. Afterwards, Moses receives the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.

This story really inspires me to believe and trust in God. It proves that God cares and saved his people. Although Moses died before stepping foot into the Promised Land. He was a faithful follower of God and one of the best leaders in the Bible. Moses influences me to start a relationship with God and to put trust in him. The story show that God will always give and supply you with what you need. He will always be there for you.
