Have I got a story for you! by Summer - February 2015 Scholarship Essay

I believe that all students should read the book Divergent. Divergent is an a book that easily sucks you in and won't let you go. The book Divergent teaches various life lessons through each and every page you turn. It may not be the most educational book, but it would be very beneficial for anyone to read. It allows for an escape from life while encouraging the reader to think about their future. The world is filled with many pessimistic people, but if people take this book seriously it can also change their whole outlook on life.

Divergent teaches many life lessons; there are five factions and each one in itself teaches us how we should be. In the book people are one of five things, but I feel that throughout the series it shows that we should contain all these attributes. It teaches us to be kind, to be honest, smart, brave, and peaceful and though it seems simple not everyone considers each of these attributes every time they face a circumstance, so it reminds us of just how important it is.

Divergent keeps a person interested, it keeps their mind completely captivated with its content. Divergent offers the reader a moment to relax and hope of freedom for the future. It shows us how important our life choice will be whether we become the next teachers or inventors, church leaders or missionaries. It offers a chance for the reader to escape the stress of life while opening a new door to its possibilities. Being the book allows the student to relax it helps with many areas of life such as relationships, future aspirations, and even a person's whole outlook on life. Though it may seem like a lot to get from something as simple as a book if people take it like I have anyone can find all these things from this outstanding work of literature.

The book contains a high level vocabulary that will help with the learning of new words which leads to better SAT scores. It helps with understanding of test questions that you might not otherwise know if you hadn't learned them through context in the book. The book provides something to do when a person is bored, so instead of wasting away they do something constructive with their time.
