Advice For A Teacher by Stacia - January 2015 Scholarship Essay

What advice would I give to a teacher? Well the question is obvious. First I would go by what I have always been taught, treat others the way I would like to be treated. So my advice to any teacher would be to see things from the student or players point of view. See things at least the way they see it. Take the time to try and wear their shoes.

Have you ever looked at someone and wondered what they are thinking? Or after a situation, you're curious about how someone is feeling? I advise every teacher to get to know their students. See things the way I do. You never know how someone is feeling or what they have been through in life for them to do the things they do, act the way they act, and most likely make the decisions they make. Essentially and psychologically past events can cause certain behavior and attitudes. Both positively and negatively. There are times in life when things happen and everyone knows, it effects the way you take things and also react. Prime example if you tell your so called best friend something and they tell someone else, when you asked them to keep it to themselves, you’re going to have a hard time trusting them from now on. You would probably think, should I tell him or her again they told last time, right? Precisely, yes.

Teachers really should do this. Get to know the kids and even adults they are dealing with if they want to get a better understanding about something. With that I would say, let the individual show them what they see or what the student is being taught by the teacher. You never know the student could be seeing the complete wrong side of things or maybe even teach the teacher something. Anyone can learn. So take the chance to learn your students.
