The best advice ever given to me by a teacher was, if you are able to explain something to someone else and they completely comprehend it you you have comprehended as well. This advice helps me to know whether I know how to do something correctly or not. I can make sure that know how to apply the concept to the problem I am solving. Another reason why this advice is so great is because not only does it help me learn, it allows me to help others as well. No matter what the concept is this advice can apply to it, whether it's math, English, football, or dancing.

This advice was told to me by my Algebra 2 teacher. In that class was where I first tested this advice. We were learning permutations and I was completely lost. I asked my teacher for help and of course she was more than happy to. Once she finished explaining to me it was as if I was a genius! I completed my class work and finished ahead of everyone else. I was reading my book when my friend asked me if I understood how to do the most challenging question there was, I told her I did. We did the question together and I helped her with each step. Once we were finished we called our teacher to check if the answer was correct. She checked it and said it was perfect. In that moment I knew I understood permutations and didn't have a problem with them any longer.
