The decision to attend college is one of the most important, stressful decisions someone will ever make, but it can also be one of the most exhilarating experiences of one's lifetime.
There is no doubting the economic benefits of a proper education, such as job security, higher lifetime earnings, and the possibility of a recession proof income, but college is so much more than what is seen in the movies, or what is taught in schools.

College is a time for expansion of personal knowledge, and the possibility of discovering new passions, hobbies, expanding on personal development, and finding oneself. Not to mention, the potential for social networking, and making friendships that stick around and grow together.

A college experience can break one out of one’s "shell", as well as give one a sense of discipline and accomplishment. It is a pathway to more opportunities in our ever-changing knowledge-based economy, as more and more employers require a degree than ever before. It can help one stay competitive to prospective employers, and even have opportunities for on the job training, work based learning, and internships. College can open the door to new opportunities within and outside of the job market.

As a woman, the right to an education is denied in many countries, thus making it even more important to take advantage of opportunities for higher education. This can make one more independent, and statistically speaking, a more educated populace is beneficial to society as a whole.

There are some clear benefits to going to college that makes it a worthwhile investment for everyone to consider. Although it can be expensive, it is one worth making, and can even be the driving factor in breaking the “cycle of poverty”. It opens the door to better job prospects, a greater rate of employment, financial independence, lasting friendships, and experiences of a lifetime.
