There are a variety of books that have held such an immense impact in my life; one book that has held a higher influence above all others without a doubt is the, Book of Mormon, of the Christian faith. Looking from a non-religious standpoint, this publication offers an assortment of testimonies from individuals of different backgrounds and ranges from different generations all the while exemplifying hope and perseverance amidst the everyday vicissitudes of life. It renders contents of the ideal story any individual searches for in a good read: heroism, combat, triumph over evil, the journey of attaining knowledge, as well as many others. The Book of Mormon pertains to historical events, enabling readers such as myself to take an interest in history, culture and religion. Religious aspects aside, the Book of Mormon has influenced my life in that I have discovered how to be enlightened and how to create an atmosphere where others are comfortable feeling so as well.
Seldom do we find ourselves reflecting upon impressions we have received throughout the day, but as for myself, this is the first impact that the Book of Mormon has had upon me. Studying characters in this book, I have come to the realization that self reflection and soul searching is essential to one’s happiness, and if not happiness, then guidance to weather the storms of life. The records in the Book of Mormon illustrate characters struggling to find solutions to their predicaments, and among these trials, the audience finds that through vulnerability and their willingness to be tested they overcome their difficulties. This message has instilled a sense of steadfastness in whatever obstacles I face in my life; it encourages endurance and strength.
Along with this message of hope, I have acquired the understanding from the Book of Mormon that in order to achieve anything, I must apply effort into the equation. It is apparent throughout the book that being anxiously engaged brings success and wisdom because of the challenges one undergoes. It has taught me valuable work ethic in the classroom, in my athletics and my relationships with those around me.
I hold this book very dear to my heart. It contains valuable life lessons and enlightening words of encouragement. It has impacted the way I live my life and the outlook I have towards my goals and future. I have attained knowledge I fail to find in other books I come across, and because of its contents, my ability to connect with others has improved. Although it is a religious book, the beauty in it is that it can affect the lives of those who are not a part of any religious faith.
