Mrs. Shelton by Savannah - November 2019 Scholarship Essay

The beginning of my high school career was a distraught one. I grew up in a military family and had fully expected to attend the high school on base. However, my father retired, and we moved off-base. In the end, I went to Kenwood High School. I remember with startling clarity that everyday I passed the school on my home during the summer, a pit of dread and fear settled in my stomach.

I was never good at new beginnings. Nothing ever seemed to line quite up right for me. This is something that I oftentimes think about. Every day, I ask myself: How can I make today a little easier for someone else? How can I make someone a little happier?

When I settled at my current high school, after moving three times, I joined as many clubs as I could. Math Club, Science Olympiad. Within those clubs, I sought to positively impacted all of those around me. This continued when I obtained a leadership position in my school's Student to Student. Student to Student is an organization that is meant to aid new students in transitioning to a college setting. It is something that helped me greatly when I first came to Middle College.

With this leadership position, I feel I have positively impacted the entirety of my school to some degree. For some, it may have been seeing a friendly face on their first day. For others, it may be having someone to talk to when they have a question.

Any which way, I feel it has positively impacted everyone
