Education as Inspiration by Sarah - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Education is a very important part of learning as a whole and a basis for what someone could choose as a career. To me, it seems to be an opportunity to learn about many varying topics that may or may not have some kind of impact on a person. Furthermore, any of the topics a person learns about may be the field that he or she chooses to go into eventually and learn more about, and for that reason, education is vital to the advancement of young men and women across the world.

Personally, I think that education has had a very large impact on me in that if I had never gone to school, I would probably not be in the position that I am in today. If I had never had education in music, I would have never found out just how much I love the arts and how much I want to learn more about it. I know that there are many other students of my age range that are discovering their passions about various fields because of their schooling. For this reason, education is truly incredible, and although some people may not find it to be their source of inspiration, there is something that everyone can be educated about they can carry on into a career.

Lastly, by being educated in many fields, I have been able to form new interests about hobbies; a main example would be that I really love all sorts of literature, but I don’t plan on going into English as a career. I love reading, and because of this, I have been able to embrace this outside of school and educate myself to form my own opinions which are the bases of reviews I write online in a community of other aficionados. If I had never been educated in English, I would never have discovered that I liked literature so much and I certainly would not have this incredible hobby.

As a whole, education is an inspiration that carries far outside of the school environment and becomes a part of students’ lives. No matter what the interests are, education is a starting point for everyone to shape their lives into what they want their lives to be as well as a way to become parts of intellectual communities of others that share interests all over the world.
