“If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”-Henry Ford. Henry Ford profoundly shaped the 20th century by being responsible for transforming an invention into an innovation. His innovation was the Ford vehicle, which was assembled by a team and the innovator he himself. Innovators take and promote ideas that were better than before. Innovators take risks, have leadership ability and imagine a whole new world that will be better than reality. Innovators are leaders and guide the future. It took Henry Ford years to fully develop these characteristics, but he still succeeded. I believe Henry Ford is a great example to college students because they can see how ideas and collaboration will create success. As a perspective college student, I am going to go above and beyond by working together with society and my fellow classmates. By doing so, I think leadership skills are important to create magnificent success and opportunities in college.

College students have weaknesses, but they grow stronger through experience. Throughout college, people gain the capacity to come together in their environment and do something remarkable- this is their experience. During this experience, one has to collaborate with others and work as a team. Even though there is no leadership title given, if one has leadership skills, they will succeed. I believe leadership skills are important is college because a student can make a difference in the community or on campus. If one does not, they will not succeed because they are not putting forth the effort into something. Whether the outcome of something is small or large, the person tried because they had determination and desire. One has to want something in order to thrive. A quote that can relate to such triumph is one said by a famous basketball player. “I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”- Michael Jordan. As he says, “he failed over and over”, that shows he was determined and now he is one of the greatest basketball players. All of the examples of experiences and famous people show college students that they need leadership as a characteristic. If they have these skills, they will have the drive to gain a satisfying outcome.

In conclusion, college students need leadership skills to succeed because it creates a rewarding outcome and a great future. Like Henry Ford and Michael Jordan, they showed their team qualities that were intended to create success and they wanted to show innovation through leadership ability. College students are innovators of the future as well, but they have to express that by determination, desire, demand with reason and passion. As a perspective college student, I will go into college with a strong mindset and with determination because I know if I try and have these positive skills, I can do something significant. I am a current student at Lisle High School and I am involved in three out-of-school community service groups, two sports, and four clubs. One example I have is with my community service group that I volunteer at. The organization is called Loaves & Fishes. Loaves & Fishes helps out the less fortunate by providing free food and school supply for children. I also have the opportunity to hand out food and interact with others. I feel successful because I have passion. Leadership skills will make anyone successful because Robert Frost once said, “men work together weather they work together or apart.”
