Divergent by Sanaa - August 2020 Scholarship Essay

In order to understand or describe the school or your dreams you must first describe yourself. For the facets that compose your personality affects your choices and preferences. Whether you are an introvert, out-going, artistic, a techno-geek, or even in a band. The simple things that make up a person's character influence their future decisions, especially when deciding to attend a university. In my case, I wanted a school that would suit the ideas and beliefs that were important to me, such as diversity. Diversity because I enjoy experiencing different races, cultures, and backgrounds flourishing in a community. Essentially, my dream school would be the school that best reflects who I am.
Therefore my dream university would be close to my home, because, first and foremost, I am family-oriented. I want to stay close to my siblings and parents so it is easy for me to contact them and visit them often. Furthermore, my dream campus must have a limit of 50 students pers class at least. A large classroom might create a situation where it is difficult for students to have time with their professors. A smaller class size would ensure that everyone is heard and receives the help they need to graduate, predominantly for people--similar to me--who do not speak often. Another facet of myself, is my altruistic side. I have always valued giving to others less fortunate than myself. For instance, when I supported my community by participating in Beta Club and through my leadership in the United Way of Greater Atlanta Youth Board. Each opportunity provided a way for me to gain experience as well as help and change my surroundings. At my dream college, I want it to offer a wide variety of chances I can utilize to continue to give to others and create an impact. In addition, my university would have a large campus with different amenities and events that aid, relax, and better campus life. This is because of my adventurous spirit. A small campus limits the places I can explore, the thing I can do, and the people I can meet. Although I may be quiet, I love to learn about things: people, plants, history, science, or whatever has caught my interest. A large campus creates an atmosphere full of different students, faculty, clubs, and experiences. Lastly, the campus ultimately has to have my major and minor. My major, biochemistry, represents my passion in the field of science as well as my future goals. Moreover, my minor, Japanese, embodies my love of japanese animations and culture. In both cases, my major and minor are integral parts of my future, hobbies, ambitions, and the encounters that make me the person I am now. In essence, my dream college is a place to foster growth through an inclusive, large, and diverse campus. It offers a place to build change and creates a space students can call their second home. My dream campus includes the important things that help me express just the kind of person I am today and the person I will be.
