My New Year's Resolution by Samuel - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

One resolution that I have made for this year, to better myself as a college student, is to make a better schedule to follow. Being a college student requires time management skills and it is important to utilize all the time one has to the fullest capacity. College students have a lot more free time and some choose to use it studying, exercising, or working at a part-time job. Since I personally, use my spare time to juggle the three things I mentioned above and play a club sport it is important for me to construct a schedule that will fit my needs. This schedule should create slots of times for me to exercise, work my job, play and practice a sport, take breaks and most importantly, study. I believe that if I made a schedule to balance all of these things then I would be much more successful in my college academics and overall in my college experience.
Many college students, mostly those in their first year, mismanage their time while in college and end-up not doing as well as others who use their time more wisely. While it is important to study and to work that into your schedule, it is even more important to schedule times to eat and a time that you go to sleep, so that one’s personal health stays in a good position. If you do not follow a regular schedule, one’s grades and health will noticeably decrease. Planning the most difficult tasks of your day should be at times when you are the most alert, and less daunting tasks should be when one is more relaxed.
I believe that if I make a schedule for myself this coming year and if I stick to it, then I will be much more successful in my schoolwork and in my daily life overall.
