Organization by Roy - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

My main educational goal for 2021 is to be ready for college, and for me, that starts with having the right mindset. For most of my time in school, I've taken classes I wasn't passionate about or had teachers who didn't seem as interested in the topic as I did. While there are plenty of examples of this in college, it's more of a fifty percent split rather than a majority of the classes. In my next semester, I'll have more college classes than high school classes, so I'm hoping that I can start getting into the college classroom "feel" and truly put my best foot forward.

My plan to accomplish this starts with organization. Thus far into the semester, I've mostly recalled due dates by memory and studying at random times. Being online has made my schedule a mess, so if I want to take colleges seriously, I'll some sort of planner and a concise way to keep up with my classes and school work. Once I get my organization in order, I can start to lay out my goals. I have general goals right now, but my prioritization isn't consistent. One week I'll prioritize school, and the next, I'll procrastinate and spend endless hours on games or hobbies. It's important to balance these things out because, if I give 100% of my attention to one thing over a long time, I'll get burned out in the long run. If I have my prioritization in order, I'll be able to go down the list and see what I need to work on rather than feeling like I've left a part of my life out.

If I'm able to mentally prepare for college and succeed when I enter my first college semester the following fall, I'll consider 2021 a success.
