The Value of Education by Ronald - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

The need for a good education in this world has increased with each day. Our world is changing so much that we as people need to stay up-to-par with the standards that are being set. The only way to do this is by constantly learning.

These standards, coincidentally, are set by education. Now, education does not only mean going to school and learning from a curriculum. This, of course, is a part of it. To me, education also means learning from those around us. Knowledge is the most valuable thing in this world to have. It can take us places that we never thought we could get to. Asking questions and learning something new each day gets us one step closer to doing something never seen before.

As far as education in school terms, getting one is quite important in the job market. The main reason people go to college is to get a degree that can get them the job they have dreamed of. Too many people just coast through school and think a degree is enough to show that they should get a certain job. What separates these people from those who actually get the job is the quality of pushing oneself. Education and learning are too invaluable to just learn the basics. Showing a passion for knowledge tells an employer that the candidate is always looking to improve themselves. To improve one’s chances, going for internships can be a major boost. In an internship, a potential employee can still learn and get an education, just not in the typical fashion. It is just as valuable as in-class time.

I know from personal experience that education can get you one step closer to your dreams. From the great teachers I have been blessed enough to have, I have gained the necessary skills to better myself in reaching my goals. This is why I am so excited for college. I know what I will learn will be so important for what I want to do, and that it will help me achieve what I want to do.

Over the years of my schooling career I have seen how important education really is. It the one thing that can truly take someone anywhere they want to go. The only stipulation with it is that one works hard. Education can only be taken advantage of if someone is willing to put the effort in that education is worthy of. If this happens, anything can really happen. Our world can continue to change, and for the better.
