Take Your Time to Teach So I Can Take My Time to Learn by Roman - January 2015 Scholarship Essay

There is a lot of advice I could give my teachers to help me learn, but one important thing that would help me learn a lot better is if teachers would take their time with the things they teach us. As a student I want to take my time so I can fully learn and understand, Teachers also shouldn’t make students feel rushed. That is very important for a teacher to do so that I can learn.

When teachers take their time to teach, they give me the chance to soak up the information I just learned. Also they can explain more about the subject and give me a little more time to write notes and ask questions. They also don’t teach you too much in one day. When i learn too much in one day a lot of it all doesn’t stay in my brain. When teachers jam too much information it’s hard to make it stick into my brain because it’s too much for one day. I like to remember all the information so that when I’m tested on it, I’m able to receive great scores.

I also don’t like to feel rushed on assignments. I like to take my time so that I can actually read all of the assignment and think about what it’s telling me. When teachers don’t give me enough time I just skim and write whatever so I can get it done and turn it in on time. I don’t really get to learn because I’m not able to put all my effort into the assignment. I have to learn whatever I can, when it should be me learning all the information it gives me.

What I specifically mean when I say take their time is actually simple. Teachers should give enough time to write notes and talk about them. My teachers usually talk while I’m writing notes so and I don’t learn that way. They should teach a certain amount a day so it’s not too much to soak up in one day. My teachers should give enough time on assignments without pressuring students to move quicker. They should review what they taught every once in a while.

If my teachers slowed down the classroom a bit then that would be helpful. It’s hard to learn when I’m constantly rushed. I would fully understand a lot more and I would take my time on assignments. Teachers need to take their time to teach so I can take my time to learn.
