Embrace High School, not regret it by Peyton - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

Breathe. Just breathe. For the next four years, you are working towards a goal. Write that goal down. Frame that goal. As a freshman it is easy to become distracted by the freedom high school provides, do not forget your goal. I know it can be overwhelming to grow up and scary, but you are going to be okay. My advice may go over your head, but remember this, ten years from now no one is going to ask if you were the loser in high school or even if you were popular, they are going to ask about your grades, your volunteer hours, your SAT scores. Who you are in high school means nothing, what matter is how you performed in high school.

At the same time, do not forget to laugh, to go to a football game, to stand in the student section, to cheer at a pep rally, and to make new friends. Embrace the opportunities provided to you, join the SCA, become involved, volunteer, in four years you will be filling out college applications and you do not want to have nothing to write. Experience life. Experience high school, the good and the bad. Prepare yourself for the next four years, they will be a roller-coaster, but never forget your goal. That goal will provide you with the motivation to wake up, to try, to study five minutes longer.

Please just remember this, no matter how bad it seems, high school is not the best time of your life, it is not supposed to be. High school is just high school. If you ever need help, someone to talk to, turn to your friends, your parents, your teachers, they all care. Every person in your life is there to help you achieve that goal. It is up to you to put in the effort, do not waste the next four years.
