Remote Learning 101 by Paige - May 2020 Scholarship Essay
Walking into a classroom is crucial to most students, due to the social and emotional connection it provides with peers. Fast forward 50 years, and I believe that this will be almost non existent. With technology moving faster than society can keep up with, I truly believe that classroom instruction will be a thing of the past. Face to face interactions are becoming less frequent in all aspects of life. More and more teenagers and young adults struggle with interacting with each other, because of their constant attachment to their electronic devices.
With the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic, we have been given a good idea what remote learning may look like. I think that this has been a positive thing for most, at least at the Junior High and High School level. My brothers have all accelerated during remote learning, and their grades have never been better. This is an indicator that some students may do better learning remotely when they struggle in the classroom.
In conclusion, 50 years down the road, education will look a lot different than it does today. Most classrooms, especially on the Junior High and High School level will have few to no students in them. Having remote learning as an option will be very helpful to those that struggle in the classroom.
