Defeating "Senioritis" by Olivia - September 2020 Scholarship Essay
This 2020 year has been anything but easy. With Covid-19 scaring our world, it is hard to focus on the simple things in life, such as school. I recently started school as a high school senior. I go to a private school where we are having in-person classes. On top of my school work and worrying about schoolwork, I have college to think about. My goal for this school year is to efficiently apply for College and receive good grades.
Thinking about college often causes me to feel like I have hit a wall of bricks. It feels like just yesterday I was a tiny freshman, with college far away off in the distance. Now, I feel as if it is staring me in the face. My solution to the stress I feel has been to stay ahead. I have already started the application process and already feel stress leaving my body. I plan on following this course of action and staying ahead. My goal is to be done applying by November 1st. I also hope to carry this same enthusiasm into finishing the rest of my senior year.
As an underclassmen and junior I often heard the phrase, "senioritis". Until now, I had no idea what that felt like. Another goal of mine for this school year is to not fall into that trap and stay strong. Even though this is my last year of grade school, I hope to work harder than ever to finish on a good note and carry that same energy into my freshman year of college. I am an A student, and I hope to end that way.
In conclusion, I am going to work hard this year. I want to show myself how hard I can work to be successful so that in turn I am able to carry that with me throughout my college years. My goal for this school year is to efficiently apply to college and work hard to end my senior year with good grades.
