What do you think education will look like in 50 years? by O'Marius M. - May 2020 Scholarship Essay
There are many factors influencing what education may look like in 50 years. I think that the future of education will require educators to be more entrepreneurial and creative. Additionally, learning will be even more technical, demanding, confident and focused. Students will learn with different devices, different programs and techniques based on their own preference, you must bring your own device.
Education is 50 years, as my 17-year old mind think about 50 years from now seems like eternity. Education is very important as Malcolm X once said " Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today". We should have a formal background in education to prepare people for the future. Even though we may never know what's going to happen, I think education or the traditional way of teaching in 50 years will no longer exist. School houses will something of the past. Teachers may be anonymous without any contact to the students. People should to develop a skill set without the need for attending school or a university. Less paper will be used, we will see ideas of education as training of the human minds with other human minds, where technology will play a major and assertive role.
Mentoring will become more important without the socialization of their peers and learning their independence in to their learning process. Mentoring will become fundamental to students' success. Though the future of education seems remote, the teachers and educational institution are vital to academic performance. Since more students will be learning and gathering information without attending school in person, future teachers should embrace various ways of stay connected and engaging with their students via social media.
In 50 years education, will have to offer more ways for students to gain real-world experiences that is applicable to their future careers. Education should provide opportunities for students to intern at companies, mentor youth, rather than limiting students inside classrooms, schools should create more opportunities for students to gain useful technical skills through real world opportunities. Education will give the students more opportunities to learn at different times in different places. Learning will be diverse; E learning tools facilitate opportunities for remote and self-paced learning. Schools will need to rethink classroom learning environment to better suit each student needs. Not every student will learn the same way or at the same pace, so there should be some adjustment to technology especially if the student has a learning disability.
In closing education in 50 years we should be advance enough to have the ability to graduate and be qualified to go into any workforce with the ability to complete the job. Schools should provide opportunities for students to intern at companies, mentor the youth or collaborate in large groups.
