Leadership is an important skill to have in college. It is an important skill to have in college because it can lead to greater things. For example, you can lead in clubs, groups, organizations, around your peers.

When leading in clubs, groups or organizations it gives you an opportunity to show what you really can do. You might have the chance to really express yourself and show what you can do. If you are a president of a club you might have the organize events, projects, and maybe even fundraiser. So by being the president you have to step up and take control. During this time the president is able to sow their leadership skills and many other qualities that are associated with leadership.

Another reason to have leaderships skills in college is when you are hanging around your friends. I feel like peer pressure rates are higher in college than in high school. I feel like this because in college you are on campus with older kids that have an easier access to alcohol and drugs. So, when you go to a party or an event there is likely to be alcohol or drugs there that you may be exposed to. During this time this is when having leaderships skills come in handy. Just because you see someone else doing it, does not mean you have to do it too. Leadership skills also come into effect in these situations because you can lead by example. If you are not drinking or doing drugs then your friends will notice and there may be a chance that they will follow your lead.

Overall leaderships skills are important to have in college. If having leadership skills only means saying no to drugs and alcohol, they are still important. They will also be helpful when in a club so you can take control and know what you are doing when planning things that also involve other peoples help. Leadership is an important skill to have in college.
