Time to Fix It by Noah - November 2021 Scholarship Essay
For so long we have made it our priority to teach the core classes. Mainly core classes consist of English, math, science, and history. It seems as if the school system has forgotten how important the study of history is. History will never be lost because we will always be making more, but what happened to learning how to fix the mistakes of the past. As a country the USA can learn a lot from itself by looking through a history book. Making history more of a focus will bring peace, knowledge, and hope to make a better world.
History class shows students how overtime the world has made the same mistakes over and over again. It has also shown how the world could change these mistakes to bring peace. Once my favorite teacher told me “History always repeats itself.” That has always resonated with me. Growing up, history never interested me because I didn’t understand it. If it weren’t for history class the same problems would continue to tear alliances and countries apart.
There is a lot of knowledge to learn in history. Without history people would grow up not knowing where they originated from, how countries came to be known, and who originated in every country. Kids need to learn these things because it will benefit their growth as a human and in their knowledge. Learning the growth of your country and where it came from to where it's at now will show kids how important equality in our country is and why racism should never happen again.
Where the US came from to where it is today should be a priority for every school in America. Seeing how America came from tragedies like the great depression, racism, and wars should give kids hope. People learning how our country has built a foundation for every person to build a future should give the next generation hope to make the world a better place.
In conclusion I believe history classes should be more of an emphasis in school to bring peace, knowledge, and hope to new generations coming up. New generations have to know the mistakes past generations have made and grow from them to keep building a better future.
