The Future of Education by Nile - May 2020 Scholarship Essay
The state of education is always ever-changing. For as long as I’ve been attending school, education is a mixture of textbook concepts and technology. Now that we are currently in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, all educational institutions have moved from in-person classroom learning to online remote learning and people are being furloughed and laid off in order to decrease contact in midst of the coronavirus.
While a move like this was very quick and somewhat effective at first, the constant screen time that these children have had is extremely high. For example, the average time for a college student to do an assignment and turn it in is roughly an hour and thirty minutes; since remote learning has started, it takes the average college student more than three hours to do an assignment and turn it in. Basically, the idea of remote learning was actually a great idea, but to actually do the assignments in remote learning is not effective at all. But, these times of uncertainty, remote learning can be an alternative for a multitude of things once these uncertain times are no more.
