Plan it and work on it. by Nicole - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

At this age it is difficult to know what one wants to do, since this is the time to figure it out, and to choose for our future. It is just overwhelming to think. Since my freshman year of highschool, I thought I had everything planned out and I worked for what I thought would make me a good candidate for a good undergraduate school. However, not everything went as planned. After looking at my plan, I realize that although my goals were realistic, in my plan there were specific things that had to be considered, like money. And now that it's time to choose a college, I have to rearrange some of the things in my plan. Although I was accepted in the schools I wanted , money is a big factor that I did not consider before, therefore I will be going to a 2 year community college, I have been taking college classes which could help me graduate faster or at least get to a 4 year university. Right now I am 18 year old. Two years after that, I will be getting my associates and transferring to 4 year university. I will be able to get my bachelors from the school I choose. My options are: The University of Chicago, Northwestern or University of Illinois at Chicago. When I finish my bachelor, 4 years will pass. During the summer of college, I will be part of internships like I have been doing since now. Also I will be working part time jobs so I could save up for dentistry school. At the end of my senior year of college I will start applying for graduate school for dentistry. I have a background with the type of work that this demands, therefore I am sure of what I want to follow as my career path. My goal is to finish undergraduate school without loans or debt, I am going to start saving money for my graduate school which will continue throughout this 4 years. Graduate school will be 4 years and after that I will start working as a dentist for the next 2 years. After I finish my 4 years of dentistry school, I will go to Peru, my native country. I will be doing volunteer work since I remember how people at this specific places were not able to afford this type of healthcare when I was a child.
