A time where my belief was challenged by Nicholas - September 2021 Scholarship Essay

I was in public speaking as a freshman and I believed that I could not speak in front of a crowd and be able to write an essay on a topic the teacher gave to me to present to the class. I believed I could not talk to the class for a certain amount of time because I was not a talkative person at the time. I was proved correct in the very first presentation because it was a train wreck. It did not reach the amount of time the teacher wanted and I kept fiddling with something while talking which was also not allowed. There were so many mistakes in my first presentation my teacher told me to go to tutoring to fix my presentation which was when she stated that I need to practice with my speeches and presentations. And to go and her for help if you need it.

I didn't believe my teacher but still took her advice anyway. As the class progressed I started to get better at speaking in front of my class. My final project was to make a presentation about teaching the class instructions to make food or a drink. I passed the final exam with a 98% and the class with an A. I learned that I could talk and feel confident to speak in front of a crowd if I practice and ask for help if I need it. Also having others read my essay or presentation and give me feedback on it to further help me be more prepared and confident about my essay.

In conclusion that challenge that I faced from my belief helped me in the long run. because it helped me learn better ways to have a good essay and presentation that I needed to explain to the class. I learned to have people read my essay and presentations and give me feedback. Also to have the teacher time me at tutoring and have the teacher give me feedback. As senior writing this short essay for this scholarship that belief that was challenged really helped me throughout my Sophomore, junior, and right now.
