My 10 Year Career Plan by Natasha - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

It is difficult for me to picture what my life will be like in ten years. I am currently a junior in high school and thinking about my future is a bit frightening. I know that I want to be a special education teacher, but I haven’t even decided what college I will be attending in a little over a year. My ten-year career plan depends on a lot of unknowns and what God‘s plan for my life turns out to be.
I hope to decide my college plans soon. I want to attend a Christian college in California and study to be a special education teacher. In ten years I will be twenty-six. I may be married and ready to start a family. Once I have children of my own, I would like to transition from teaching full-time to tutoring children with learning disorders. I believe that this will be a perfect fit so that I can stay home with my own kids, but still use my degree to keep working.
I see a lot of advantages to being a special education teacher. I currently teach private swim lessons during the summer. This is something that I can continue to do even after I begin my career. I would also have time off during Christmas and Easter to spend time at home with my family. Teaching kids in special education will also prove to be rewarding. I love helping students right now as I am currently a teacher’s assistance for first graders. I also volunteer at my church as a helper for children. I have a deep love for children and enjoy babysitting for various families in my community.
Although my future is unknown, I plan to spend my senior year of high school at home enjoying home cooked meals, playing sports, and seeing my family each day. I am also excited to make some decisions in this next year about where I will attend college. I am hopeful that I will achieve my dream of becoming a special education teacher and I am excited to begin helping children with disabilities or learning disorders.
