“Attention!” This was something I said and heard on a regular basis when I was a member of Civil Air Patrol, a youth military group. Through this program, I was granted leadership experiences that I never thought I would have. Leadership experiences like this and just ordinary leadership experiences like babysitting your siblings, can help with your college success. Leadership skills are necessary for college success in many ways.

One of these ways is that having leadership skills can help your overall confidence. If you have any experience in leading, you will have a sense of confidence in all that you do. Let’s say that you have leadership skills in planning and scheduling. Having these types of skills can help you succeed and have confidence. If you have more experience in one thing than someone else, then you are more likely to have confidence in that thing, since you have done it before.

Leadership skills can help you lead people. Now, this sounds obvious, but its true. When you have experience, others will notice that and will look up to you for advice and direction. Something that people sometimes don't realize, is that when you know how to lead, then you also know how to follow. Following can mean paying more attention to someone when they are teaching. Like a professor at college. This is important, because it can grant you all kinds of success.

When you are a leader, you are the first one to take action on something. This can help you take action in college to get things done. You will be able to develop good work ethics and get your assignments done. Having leadership skills can help you prioritize importance in your life. You will be able to work on something and get it done the right way.

Being a leader, grants you many responsibilities. If you have leadership experience, then these responsibilities are easy for you to prioritize. Leadership skills can come from simple things like being in charge of a group. These skills can be necessary for college success in various ways. You can receive confidence, organization and good work ethics when you have leadership experience.
