Best Book I've Read in 2020 and Why by Molly - October 2020 Scholarship Essay

2020 has been full of difficult obstacles for everyone. For me, being quarantined and stuck to the four walls of my room for the most part was the biggest of all my obstacles this year. I tried to occupy myself with many different crafts and hobbies. Yet, I got bored or them quickly. I turned to reading because you can loose track of time within a book.
My mom gave me her copy of "Little Women", written by Lousia M. Alcott in 1896. My mother wanted me to read "Little Women" because it was her favorite book when she was my age and she has read it a dozen of times. This book recently became popular again because of the recent release of the modern movie. I decided to ready it since I have yet to see the movie and the novel is rich in timeless literature.
I rank Alcott's book, "Little Women", the best book I have read in 2020 because not only did I read a novel with life lessons that are apparent at any time period, but I shared this sentimental object with my mom. In Alcott's novel, I learned that family is everything and while being in an epidemic when reading "Little Women", I spent a lot of time with my family. I related to the book a lot because my siblings and I did a lot of things together just like Jo and her sisters did in the book.
Overall, I believe this book has taught me a lot and kept me far from boredom through this tough time.
