Sincerity and Clarity by Mishal - January 2015 Scholarship Essay

One word that describes all my favorite teachers is sincere. They are honest, dedicated human beings who do everything in their power to make sure their students succeed. One advice I would give my teacher is to always be honest, not only with their students but also with their work. If a teacher completes all of his or her work trying the hardest, they will get the same reaction in return from the students. When student realize their teacher is dedicated, they tend to try their hardest to impress them. Students engage is class discussions and study regularly because they feel obliged to ace every test. A teacher’s reliable work ethic portrays as an example for the class; the students will work just as hard as the teacher is will to.

It is always a good idea to make clear to the students what the expectations are, and if they aren’t exceeded; it is a teacher’s responsibility to let the students know. Telling a student he or she is doing ‘okay’ even if it their work is below average gives the student no goals to work towards. I personally do better in a class if I have an objective. Honesty is the best policy in any class room, letting the student know what exactly they need to be accomplishing in order to succeed. This is why I think sincerity is the best quality a teacher can possess.
