Our School in Fifty Years by Mikayla - May 2020 Scholarship Essay

In the next 50 years, education will change a lot. I think the most significant way the culture around learning will change will be how we present the information to the children. For example, the more time that passes, the more teachers and students rely on electronics. My middle school gave the students iPads. I think as time progresses and electronics get better, we will use them in our schools in more and more ways. Perhaps all the homework will be done on the electronic, or maybe all the books will be available on them. It is hard to imagine what all the possibilities are.

Beyond how we teach, I think the environment of the schools will also change. I feel as time continues, we are learning to be more inclusive of everyone, even those who may not look like we do, or act the way we do. I would hope that this inclusivity allows the environments of school to be more rewarding for every student. That instead of cliques and groups, every school has one student body. Even though there may be one or two kids who still like to tease others, because of the collectiveness of the group, kids won’t be afraid to stick up for their peers.
