Freshman Year by Michael - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
The things that I would tell to an incoming high school freshman is that this year matters and your grades are important this year as all through your high school graduation. High school would be a big adjustment for you because the teachers will help you if you ask for help they will not hold your hand anymore like middle school and elementary. This freshman year is the start to your college future make sure that you are in the right classes for college and take the ACT and SAT because you do not want a college to tell you that your scholarship is denied because you failed to take these test. I would let them know that high school experience will go by so fast and you only get one time to be in high school so make every opportunity count because you do not want to be saying what if or I should have done this.
This first year is something you have to not take for granted because if you let your freshman year slip away you will be at your junior or senior year looking to make up credits from your freshman year. This is something that kills a lot of freshman because they do not have support to tell them that freshman year is a year you do not want to say I do not need to go to class or do anything because I am freshman and it does not matter. I would like to express to them I know students that I have coach through my years that messed up totally their freshman year and could have been a student athlete that would of made some noise in college. Since I am going to become a teacher and work with students all day that grades are the most important to colleges no matter how well you can throw a football, how high you can jump or you can score forty points in a basket game. I would also like to tell them that if you a student that likes to clown around in the classroom the teacher would not take you seriously and they would give you the grade that dissolve instead of helping you.
The next topic that would be discussed is to make sure you are in the right classes for college and take those SAT or ACT test. Which means taking college prep classes this would get you college prepared so when you get to college you know how to work. Learn how to study for class and take good notes that will prepare you for the test or quiz. Taking the SAT practice test and ACT practice test that will prepare you for the real test your junior and senior year because these test will predict what school that could get you a scholarship. You will need to get the highest grade point average that you could get because the higher your grade point average is the less you will need to get on the SAT or ACT. If you are not a good test taker than you should practice these test because it would help you in the long run. The best thing you ca do is go to the NCAA eligibility web site to see what you would need to go to college.
The last topic that would be discussed is that the high experience would by so fast. These for years go by so fast that you want to make sure that you make every opportunity count because you get one chance to make a name for yourself in high school. I would tell you that you only have one high school experience so make the most of it because when you graduate now you are a man or women that would have to make your own choices for your life. When you have to make adult choices for yourself that will make you a man or women. Now it is your turn to pay bills, work, and maybe have a family to take care of you have to have a plan for your life so you can be successful.
In conclusion there has been numerous things that I would tell an incoming freshman about coming into high school. Their high school experience will come fast and you only have one time to experience this so make the most of the opportunities that come your way. You would have to make smart choices because the wrong choices could lead you to end hurting your chances to go to college. I would also say having a boyfriend or girlfriend in high school is a waste of time because your job is to become the best student you can be. The SAT and ACT test are very important to your high school career to get you into college. Your freshman year is probably the most important year of the high school career because you trying to make a name for yourself. The high school experience is one that you should not take for granted because this is your job to become the best student you can be.
