College challenged by creativity by Mia - May 2020 Scholarship Essay
In this day in age getting an education is seen as a privilege because the average person typically cannot afford tuition cost. The average tuition cost is anywhere from $10,000 to $32,000 in the United States depending if it’s a 4-year public or private university. College also tends to be associated with students experiencing depression, sickness, social problems, anxiety, and much more. Hearing all of this discourages a lot of people and makes them wonder if they can even use their degree to find a career that provides a good salary. College prices have increased over the decades and high school students these days are often finding other routes in creating a future. With the constant growth and development of other ways to create a future, the traditional college way will have to change in order to stay relevant.
Within the next 50 years, I believe the typical college education will become less popular due to various common issues many have experienced. Millennials are becoming more innovative and finding ways to make a good living without a degree. New technology and advances open up so many opportunities for many. Despite the potential decline is college students, it is impressive that people are finding ways to make a future for themselves without having to spend thousands. So, college will most likely lower its tuition rates due to the decline is students and they probably will start to take a student’s mental health into consideration when structuring workloads.
There are positives to both sides because with colleges enduring these challenges, it allows them to see from a student’s perspective and allow them to adjust to allow students to afford tuition and not have any social or health struggles. The positive note on the other hand is that students are becoming more creative and finding ways to enter this new day and area with making a living how they want. There are of course some careers that require an education and degree, but it is now not the only way into finding a lifetime career.
