Peer Support by Megan - September 2013 Scholarship Essay
Believe it or not, when it comes to academics, my greatest role models are my peers. My school educates a number of extremely bright students. It is a college preparatory school, but I honestly do feel that each and every one of my classmates shows up every day ready to learn and wanting to learn.
I often find myself in awe of the knowledge of my fellow peers. At times individuals might think their classmates are stupid, but I truly do not. Not only in my advanced classes, but also in my regular level classes, I will sit back and think, "Wow, that is an amazing point. I never would have thought of it that way."
Whenever I feel bogged down with my advanced course work, I'll remember the girl in my English class that's also in advanced science, math, theology, history, and art. Knowing that the people I’m surrounded by everyday are challenging themselves, I also feel the need to challenge myself. But I also remind myself that advanced work doesn’t mean everything. So many of my fellow classmates in regular level classes are intelligent, maybe even more so than many of the students in my advanced classes. I’ve learned from many of these classmates that you should never overdo it; that you should trust and know yourself and always just do the best you can.
I have grown immensely as a student these past few years. And I truly do owe my success to my peers.
