Encountering Difficulties by Megan - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

There is no definite key to “complete success” in high school. For every person, goals and ambitions differ and change throughout high school. No matter your confidence in the way you will execute your high school career, your initial thoughts on how high school will go, will be wrong. There’s not a lot of complexity to this statement, for the fact that as a freshman, you probably have no idea what you want out of life, and that’s OK!

As a high school senior, my advice to you (a high school freshman), is to not become discouraged. Throughout your time in high school, you will make new friends while losing old ones, you will encounter teachers you may not like or agree with, and you will fail at things many times. Despite the struggles you will encounter during high school, you will gain from the difficult experiences. Your achievements will soon over power your failures, you will realize that the teachers you did not like, actually knew what they were talking about, and you’ll gain a true idea of what’s really important in life.

An end result of high school, is that you will find yourself, and what is truly important to you. It is your shortcomings and struggles throughout your time in high school that will make you able and ready to tackle your future ahead, and lead you to a path of success. As a freshman going into high school, know that things will be difficult, but they will always get better.
