We Are All Unique Individuals by Mayra - March 2017 Scholarship Essay

Everyone on this earth are unique individuals, I am my own type of unique. I am not the typical popular teen that goes out every weekend, who has melt downs over their relationship problems, or who has dated all these guys. A fact is that I am none of those things, my persona is well reserved and I have a small circle of friends. My circle is small because I have learned the hard way that my kindness is easily taken for granted. Classmates and friends tend to ask for my work and I have a difficult time saying “No” because I feel that it would create tension between them and me. I give in easily because I do not want any problems with others, but I am only hurting myself. I’m giving all my hard work to a person just so they can get credit. I need to speak out for myself or this is going to continue further on in my lifetime. Many things that teens do today to fit in I find irrelevant. Irrelevant because I can not relate to some of their mentality because I am mature enough to comprehend that I rather be my own voice than for others to make decisions for me. All this depends on the type of environment that one surrounds themselves with.
I’m different. I have the capacity to think for myself and know what I want to strive for. That strive is to be the first person in my family to get accepted into college. I am persistent in everything I do because of the structures my parents have enhanced in me from young age. They taught me the traits of being a hard worker and being wise. My family have always been my motivation that keeps me going through the thick and thin challenges that I face in my life. There is a large amount of people that want to attend college as well but, what I can guarantee is that my hunger to succeed in life is what motivates me now and will as well in college because it's my choice to prosper.
What I am trying to get across to every student is that you are who are and there is nothing wrong with you. One has to value themselves and know what aspirations they want to accomplish. Do not allow for others to belittle you instead use that as motivation to prove whoever it is that you are a strong individual who will not be deteriorated. You are your own kind of uniqueness who should be proud of your accomplishments and who wants to reach new limits. Do not allow fear to become an obstacle, attack it and I guaranty that your success will build you into mighty person. Do not forget that every individual is their own type of uniqueness and that should be something to embrace.
