How has education shaped who you are today? by Matthew - December 2014 Scholarship Essay
My education has shaped me into a leader. I am not content to be merely good at those educational goals I possess; I strive to be the best. My education has molded my mind through rigorous English and mathematics curriculi to analyze and solve problems. Education has given me ambition to rise to a high rank in life and to use that rank to encourage others to pluck up courage and fight against the odds to their dreams, however grand.
The English classes which I have taken have all been of a demanding nature. This education has immersed me in the works of the great classical writers. Often being assigned to evaluate the author’s message and thought pattern has instilled me with the desire to have a similar mind. As a result of reading and exploring these classics, I have begun some writing of my own, all of which express the influence of my education. Furthermore, being so closely and constantly associated with characters of high character, dependability, charity, and fortitude also inspire me to take on these traits myself.
In addition to the stimuli I have received from my English education, my mathematical education has induced me to act in a manner suited to overcoming obstacles to solve a problem. Devotion to finding the answer in all my mathematics classes has caused me to be steadfast and to persevere in my tasks until the resolution is reached. In my work, I have found that exposition and clarification of the difficulties often provide the answer. In this manner, my mathematical education has caused me to investigate complications to determine cause, then to resolve the issue by presenting the true solution. The same principle is applied to the ambition for proficiency in my life. Therefore, my education has shaped me into a leader who seeks to overcome all difficulties to reach the objective.
