10 Year Plan by Mary Lewis - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

My ten-year plan is to make the world a better place. In three years I will graduate college and then I plan to return to where I grew up in Sanford, NC. I plan to work and live in Sanford, NC where I hope to be the best Kindergarten teacher that I can be. I am excited to be preparing to teach the new children and families that are moving to Lee County. Teaching Kindergarten is such an important year for children because they are starting their first year of school. I want to get the students off to a great start. At Meredith College, I have been taking many Child Development classes and have learned a lot through these classes. I have also been babysitting, volunteering, and working with children for many years and I believe that it will help me further my career. In the next ten years, I plan to be in many civic organizations in Sanford, NC such as Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, and Rotary Club. I participated in Key Club and Lions Club in high school and hope to continue being a part of these organizations so I can stay involved in my community. I hope to work towards being a National Board Certified Teacher so that I can be a leader in my school and set an example for other teachers. I have been attending and have been very active at First Presbyterian Church since I was born. A goal that I have set for myself is to become a leader in the church by being an elder or a deacon. As you can see, two of the biggest things in my life are leadership and service. I will strive to use these talents to continue to make the world and my community a better place.
