An education is vital in several aspects. Whether you study economics or psychology or environmental science, all subjects are relevant in today’s world. If they were not, they wouldn’t be available studies. Each specific field requires professionals and it is the professionals that are productive members of society. In order to experience advancements, the population must continue to be educated. Individuals must be willing to invest both their time and money in their education.

In a world like the one that we live in today, an education is almost absolutely necessary. The job industry is competitive and when employers look at hundreds of job resumes all day, it’s important to have something that stands out on your resume. A possible candidate that has a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject is going to have a one up on an opposing applicant with a high school diploma or a GED. Having additional educational experiences like internships also help when competing for a job.

An education is also purposeful in a personal sense. Back to the internship example- not only does an internship look great to an employer; it helps the individual better understand their future profession as well. When one is well educated, they are able to understand more and speak in an intelligent manner. It’s always a good feeling to be able to partake in a conversation gracefully and accurately. Secondly, learning stimulates the brain and mind. It is scientifically proven that humans, like most living organisms, require both physical and mental stimulation. The more stimulation a person receives, the more productive they are.

Knowledge can also be helpful when it comes to helping others. When a family member or friend is seeking aid, your education may come into play. If you specialize in automobiles, you may be able to help a stranger whose car has broken down. Maybe you’re a nurse at a baseball game when a child next to you begins to have a seizure, you can apply what you know until medics arrive with further tools. We are all able to help one another. It’s simply a matter of applying your education.

Overall, knowledge is power; and a good way to gain knowledge is through an education. There are several advantages that come with having an education. The ones discussed in this paper are few of many. This is the era of advancement, largely due to the amount of people that are partaking in secondary education. I can only imagine where the world will be in the next few decades with the amount of people that are seeking college educations.
