What I have overcame by Maria - March 2017 Scholarship Essay

I have worked to overcome an educational challenge which was sophomore year when I crashed academically. During sophomore year I was ready to take AP and Honor classes, since freshman year I almost had a 4.0.

So I decided to take Algebra 2 honors, English 2 honors, and AP European History. I should have notice that by choosing to take one AP class would have been enough. Before I signed up for all those other classes I only had one AP class which was AP European History. I should have never added more challenging classes to my schedule. I was just very ignorant and thought I could survive all those courses during sophomore year. Which I do not understand because I never in my life had take advanced courses. Maybe if I would have only taken the AP European class I would've done just fine that year. That class was one of all the advanced classes that I actually passed both semesters with a grade higher than a “c”. That is a educational barrier that I had to overcome in order to make up for what I messed up on. I had to go to summer school and credit recovery. I went to summer school, so that I could retake my math class and get a decent grade. I did take the class and I ended passing both semesters with an A first semester and a B second semester. That was not it though I also had to attend credit recovery and retake my English class. During credit recovery I ended up passing that class with an A. Which made me very happy and sad at the same time because I should have passed it the first time I took it. That is when I knew that I should of been aware of what I was setting myself for sophomore year. Sadly I did not and I had to retake those classes to make up the grades for them.

It's okay now though because I fixed my mistakes it was very hard. From this experience that saying things is easy but not doing them. I deal with challenges by learning from them. That is how I overcame that educational barrier and learned from my mistake.
