The Eternal Galaxy by Maidoua - July 2020 Scholarship Essay
A classroom would be the first and last place that any student would want to be in. When one takes a seat at the table, they are sitting to complete a task that leads to a bigger future. By creating an atmosphere that provides me with an excellent natural environment, I will choose a BTS (Bulletproof Boys) style room.
First off, I would begin by choosing two wallpaper colors that consist of; deep purple and sky blue. These two colors would be seen on opposite ends of each other. Between the colored walls, I want all the rest to be white. These white walls are going to be the front and back of the classroom. While each colored wall, purple and sky blue, will be seen on my left and right side because my head turns when I mentally think, it will enable me to complete my tasks.
The wall covered in purple will have white specks on the wall and the specs will form an image of a concert venue. You may not notice it at first, but as you slowly walk towards the image, you will find that these white specs are in the shapes of tiny stars. Right in the middle of the concert image will be an outlined whale, dusted in gold with its tail flipped in the air to express the movement of “going forward.”
On the other wall, I have sky blue. The image that comes to me first is a pink cherry blossom, seen on the left side with petals flying through the entire wall. The seven outline characters will be evenly distributed to form an arrow pointing to the door. This idea also expresses the direction of “moving forward”. Next to each character will be personal quotes about life and success. Next to each character will be individual quotes about life and success.
Now, to give you a little insight into these incredible and humble beings. Bangtan Boys, or better known as BTS, is a seven-member group from Seoul, South Korea. They have broken numerous records with their music not only locally, but also globally; being the first group in South Korea to sweep all nominated categories at M.A.M.A (Mnet Asian Music Awards) in 2019, to the first Korean group to win the “Social Artist” award at Billboard Music Awards all three years since 2017, to being listed as the ‘Next Generation Leaders’ by ‘Times’ Magazine, and with their impactful speech at the United Nations, to giving back to charities and countless organizations like UNICEF and Black Lives Matter. This group has permanently stamped a name for themselves worldwide with help from their ARMY, a name they have given their fans.
For me, BTS is one complete person or package, they take on the role of a friend, a family, a loved one, and most importantly, they helped me form a dream. Purple is the last color of the rainbow, which is the color given to the fans. Given meaning by the member V, it means to trust, love, and be by your side. The stars and the whale can be viewed as “I am the loneliest in this world,” and can also be seen as “I belong with everyone in this world no matter how different I am.” When I think of sky blue I remember the season of spring and their song “Spring Day” from their full-length album “You Never Walk Alone."
My representation of spring means “happier days will always come.” In my happier days, I have seven characters representing each member of the team. These individuals have been my support system, and their said quotes are words that I remind myself every day. Overlooking my classroom, I feel a sense of devotion when I see the massive purple layout and the seven characters. Everything in this classroom gives me a sense of responsibility and understanding that “If they can do this, I can also do this!” By having BTS as the main theme, I can express the love and beauty that I’ve grown up. I know for certain, by sitting down on that chair, I can push forward in achieving my dreams. Already picturing it in my mind brings warmth and a smile to my face.
