My Journey with Education by Madison - December 2014 Scholarship Essay
Education has shaped billions of lives and continues to do so. Education has transformed me in ways that I could not have expected. It has given me the key to unlock any door and I know that education will continue to give me the ability to unlock many more. Education has shaped me in countless ways, but it has especially shaped me politically and morally.
Education has clearly shaped my book knowledge, but it has also taught me things that I did not think I would learn during high school. Every subject in school is integrated into the next one and so are politics. It does not matter if it is math, science, history, or english, politics have an impact on every subject. My educational career has taught me to look at different subjects or issues in many different lights. It has shaped me to think about how topics in science or medicine are looked at by the government and why there is controversy over some of these topics. The education of politics have even impacted my English classes. Debate and speeches are a crucial part in politics. Education has taught me the significance of words and especially how significant they can be in politics. Education has greatly shaped my political views. It has given me insight into the complex world of politics. Education has shown me how many different perspectives there are to consider in politics. Without education, my political views would be very limited. Education has greatly shaped me in that way, which also leads to how education has shaped me morally.
Some may find it surprising or unusual that education has affected me so much that it has gone so far to affect my morals. Education has clearly shaped my political views which in turn has shaped my morals. Education has taught me why some actions are considered wrong and right or somewhere in the middle. This has caused my morals to further develop based on this knowledge. Many of my morals have been instilled by my parents, but as my education progressed some of my views started to change. Without education I would not think that certain issues were right, wrong, or that they fall in between. My education has also made be aware of how other people’s morals greatly differ. Education has shaped me by helping me become more tolerant and open to different morals like in different cultures. As a result of this, my morals sometimes even change to an extent or I get a new view on an issue/topic. Education is not just my text book knowledge, but it has become a part of who I am today.
Education has had and will continue to have a major impact on my life. I am sure that as I enter into college my political views and morals will continue to change. I would not doubt if my education starts to shape me in other ways that it has not yet. Education is the key to becoming the individual anyone wants to be and it has definitely shaped who I am today.
