Eduction is Life Lessons by Madeline - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Obviously, the purpose of an education after high school is to learn more about something that will help you achieve your future goals. For example, a person goes to college to learn more about a field that they want to work in for 40 plus years.

However, education is not only learning things that you will use for the field of your study. It is also learning lessons that you can use for the rest of your life. In high school, I am able to take a course (Business Math) that allows me to understand real life material, such as credit cards, loans, and payments. Without this course, I would be walking out into the real world with no knowledge to help me live the rest of my life.

In college, you learn time management, which is used for the rest of your life. You also learn independence. No one is there to tell you what to do, or push you to do your work. You need to want to do it yourself. You learn to choose between partying or success.

People learn something every day. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. No matter your age, education in a school system is as important as getting enough water in your body, even if it is just a high school diploma.
