If I had the Opportunity to Create a High School Extracurricular Activity by Lolly - September 2019 Scholarship Essay

If I created a high school extracurricular activity, I would create a culture club. In the culture club, kids in high school would get the chance to learn all about different cultures. When learning about a culture, it is important to look at where the culture originates and people who are a part of it. Many cultures have many beliefs and even eat different foods. In the culture club, kids in high school would research and even prepare and cook food from different cultures.
Field trips to historic sites nearby would also be another fun and a great learning experience for kids in high school. Students would get to make arts and crafts that go along with the culture that is being studied. This would include sculpting buildings with clay, making the currency that comes from the region, and many other things. Culture Club would give students the chance to learn some different languages. Students can learn and create many things and culture club could even benefit students.
The culture club would be student ran, leaving students to set up dates on when to hold meetings before or after school and when to schedule events. Students would get to know each other and make new friends and even incorporate culture club in their lives outside of school. The culture club would give students a better understanding of why people believe in a certain religion. Culture club would be a great extracurricular activity for students and would also look good on college applications. Students would enjoy this activity and have a clearer and better perspective on different cultures.
