The Sun by Leith - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Some say high school is the best four years. It’s not always. It’s a 50//50 shot. My experience was and still is not the best four years for me. I dread it. I count down everyday how many days I have left. I have trouble getting out of bed and “dressing to impress”. My “friends” left me and now i only have 3. The guy I liked since forever turned out to be a waste of effort
Here’s my advice to the younger students. Just keep moving, stay in motion, and shoot for something big. Now that doesn’t mean I must never stop moving my body. No, I mean as long as you stay on track and move towards your goals in life, high school will be easier. Now you don’t have to have your whole life planned out by freshmen year, you just have to shoot for something. Shoot for something that’s not easy to grab. Shoot to be better than an older sibling. Shoot to be in the top 50 of your class. Shoot to be a varsity letterer. Don’t listen when they say shoot for the stars or the moon. Why? Because that’s what everyone is doing. Everyone is listening to that. But shoot for more than just the stars and moon, shoot for the sun. Of course they will tell you not to do that for you will you die. But here’s the key to all that. No one else is going to take the leap. No one is going to want to jump out of the box that early. But let me tell you, if you jump out of that box and shoot for the sun, you will find the right people who will help you reach for the sun. Those are the people you want to be friends with.
So Keep Moving, Stay In Motion, And Shoot For The Sun.
