The Necessity of Leadership Skills by Lauren - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

I personally do not believe that leadership skills are a necessity t get through college. Leadership skills, though they may be beneficial to success, are not necessarily needed. Many people continue on through college without them and, as expected, not everyone can be a leader. Not only is this my opinion, but it is also how I choose to view life.

Though leadership skills are a great asset, not all people are capable. Some people are born followers, while others, born leaders. Though it might be helpful, you can be a follower and still be successful.

Another good point worth mentioning is that not everyone can be a leader. A leader is someone who does things for the good of the group, but a follower is someone that can accomplish those things and support the leader. The saying, "too many cooks spoil the broth," it fits in this context, meaning if everyone is a leader, nothing will get accomplished.

Going through not only through college, but also life, leaderships skills would prove to be a very valuable asset, but not necessarily essential for success and improvement. Many goals can be accomplished without the help of special skills, all while still choosing to be a follower instead of a leader.
