Meaning of Education by Laura - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Education can have several different meanings or purpose depending on the person who is being asked. If someone were to ask a high school student who didn’t have determination in school to do well, they may respond that it is a waste of time. As for myself, education has a much larger meaning and purpose; it provides knowledge to inform and aid in the success of others.

In my eyes education serves the purpose of giving a person the ability to poses knowledge to help others. Education dose not revolve just around the four major subjects in school, math, science, reading and history, but extends to learning life skills that will help a person succeed in life. By having the proper education, one can help other that are less fortunate and even those people can the ones that might have had a great learning experience; one way the ones that are less fortunate can teach the ones that had a good education is life skills, they may had to grow up more quickly and learn how to survive on their own.

Education does not stop when a person graduates from high school or even from college, it continues throughout a person’s entire life. Something is learned every day, even if it seems small at the moment, it may turn into something that has a lasting impression. No matter where a person goes in life, there is always going to be someone there that is older and has more knowledge that will advise them; as all FFA advisors say at every meeting, “Being older than the rest of you, I am asked to advise you from time to time, as the need arises.”
