I am very grateful to have attended school in the Goddard school district since the first grade. I have had many wonderful teachers who have shaped, not only my education, but who I am as a person in very helpful ways. Though encouragement and tough love, I have learned to stick it out and work hard through the tough times. The aspect of my education that I am the most thankful for is the lessons of perseverance that being a has taught me.
Firstly, I am grateful to have learned that perseverance through failure is an important skill to learn and cultivate. Throughout my middle and high school career I strived to keep a 4.0 GPA, all A grades. If I earned a low grade on a test or quiz that brought my grade below an A, it was very easy for me to be discouraged and lose hope that I would be able to raise the grade. Nevertheless, I was encouraged by my teachers and parents to work as hard as I could to earn the higher grade, and I always managed to earn that A. This taught me to persevere through the times of failure in other aspects of my life in order to gain the outcome I want.
Another lesson my education taught me about perseverance was how to stay engaged in an activity, even when it is difficult. I learned this lesson slowly throughout my high school career in the classes I took that were very difficult such as math and chemistry. There were times when I did not believe I would even understand the topic that we were learning because of the difficulty, but with extra hard work and studying I was able to understand what was taught and earn high grades in the classes. This translates into my everyday life because I am constantly confronted with challenging situations in the workplace and in my extracurriculars, but I have been taught to persevere through the difficulty in order to achieve my goals.
I am grateful to my educators and my parents for instilling perseverance and hard work in me throughout my education. I plan to take these tools and use them in my everyday life, so I could not be more thankful for them.
