Technology: self driving cars, cure to cancer, sustainable human life on Mars. In today’s society, people associate it with the future- the things that could be. As a result, people often overlook the invaluable resources students already have access to specifically the internet and computers. With the help of these two advances, education has fundamentally changed and will continue to evolve.
The internet is an all- encompassing entity. It has opened doors that were imaginable even 10 years ago. With its help, students now have access to a plethora of resources. Literature not retained by the host library can be accessed with a click of a button. E- books, articles, journals, studies, and more can all be shared with the outstanding network in place as a result of the internet. Assignments are now coordinated on educational platforms which provides students and instructors flexibility and comfort. Questions? Send an email or message any time of day and have it awaiting its recipient. Today’s educational system is irreversible altered with the integration of the internet. Not only does it open resources and untapped knowledge to educators and students, but it allows them to do so with ease.
To compound on the benefits of the internet, there are portable and crucial devices used to capture it. Computers have become a near constant with all demographics in recent times. The internet, as astounding as it is, would be nothing without these two means. The computer, specifically laptops, are important for students. It can even be said that without access to a computer, a student cannot advance in their education. Supplemental online homework, quizzes, discussion boards, digital group projects, virtual presentations and more are quickly becoming components in the traditional classroom. That said, with access to a computer, students can now pursue their education from off site. No longer do they have to live on campus or commute, but instead they have the means to attend any university in the country or world. This translates into money saved. With education
I can confidently say that technology has altered and will continue to alter education. Thanks to advances made possible by the internet and computers, I can continue with my post graduate courses through Utah State University while living in my home state of Michigan. Academia is inherently difficult, but, with the help of today’s technology, it is more accessible than ever.
