Be Thankful For Teachers by Laith - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

Simply put, the aspect of my education that I would say that I’m most thankful for has to be all of the teachers I've had so far. Teaching is honestly a pretty difficult job/career to pursue and continuously do well in year after year, sometimes for over a decade. In addition, it’s an unfortunate truth that most teachers within the U.S. are underpaid, making it that much more difficult to stay motivated for such long periods of time. Considering most teacher’s difficulties, it can be quite easy to simply give up on trying to be good teachers who are passionate about their jobs. However, I believe that most of my teachers have been quite the contrary for the most part.

They’ve been largely passionate about helping students with anything that they might be struggling with (be it school-related or personal) and teaching in general. In general, I could be considered lucky to have such great teachers throughout my life so far as many teachers do succumb to losing their motivation to stay as the best teachers that they could be. They may sometimes be an overlooked part of receiving an education, but they’re at the same time one of the most important. Teachers are the part of the education system that can truly affect a person’s thought process towards learning, the different subjects, etc. As such, I personally am very thankful for just having decent teachers (I can even imagine the less amount of interest that I would have in my favorite subject if my teachers weren’t as passionate as they were and are).
