Writing on the Bathroom Wall by Krista - February 2014 Scholarship Essay

Picture this... You go into the bathroom and you walk into the stall. You close the door and staring you in the face is the most memorable quote you have ever read. Seems a little far-fetched right? Well believe it or not that is what happened to me.

It was a sunny Tuesday morning. We had 7 minutes between classes and I had taken that time to powder my nose like I do every day. What I hadn’t realized was that my daily routine was about to take a turn for better. I walked into the bathroom, and written on the wall in big, black, Sharpie letters was the statement "Smile, things will get better. It may seem stormy now but it can’t rain forever." Many people would say “Well that is very nice but how is this the most inspirational quote you have ever read?” What most people don't realize is that I suffer from anxiety and depression. This quote was enough to turn my day around. It reminded me that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and that even though life may seem pretty upsetting now there is always hope that tomorrow will be better.

The point I'm trying to make is that we all face demons and it is those demons that make us stronger. This quote inspired me and I hope it will inspire you as well.
